Mittelman Furniture Company was founded in 1956 by Israel and Sara Mittelman. Th ey began by building upholstered furniture in their basement. As they mastered t heir craft, the business became a strong competitor with over a dozen other furn iture manufacturers in the Kansas City area. In 1976, Phil Koffman, the Mittelma n's son-in-law, joined the company and soon after began distributing other f urniture products in addition to manufacturing their own upholstery. Today, Mitt elman Furniture has become one of the largest wholesale distributors and direct importers of fine home furnishings in the Midwest. Mittelman Furniture's fam ily tradition is being carried on with the help of third generation son-in-law, David Kuluva. David has been helping run the company since 1996 after marrying P hil and Marie's daughter, Kerry.

Celebrating 50 years in business, Mittelman Furniture now operates out of a 1 30,000 square foot building in Kansas City, Kansas, located at 501 Funston Road in the Fairfax district. The building features a 30,000 square foot showroom dis playing the full line of in-stock furniture, as well as a special order Design C enter. The showroom is open to any of Mittelman Furniture's registered custo mers, and to guests of registered customers. To gain access, please contact your local home furnishings retail store or interior designer. The showroom hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In addition to the showroom business, Mittelman Furniture provides furniture to retail stores, interior designers, and new home builders throughout Kansas, M issouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Western Illinois. Store delivery or compl ete in home delivery and setup is available by company truck, as well as custome r pick up at the Kansas City warehouse.
